AFDSS FOR INDIAN RAILWAYS
High Pressure Water Mist System for Indian Railways - The automatic fire detection and suppression system (AFDSS) used in Indian Railway's pantry car and power car is Viba's innovative technology of high pressure water mist system.

TRANSFORMER PROTECTION SYSTEM
Transformer Fire Protection System
Our advanced Explosion Prevention and Fire Extinguishing System (EPFES) is a reliable, field-proven solution designed to protect transformers and reactors from catastrophic failures caused by explosions and fires. Engineered for both new and existing installations, this proactive system ensures minimal downtime and can be tested on energized transformers—setting it apart from conventional systems.
Key advantages include multi-signal activation, eliminating the risk of malfunctions, and a foolproof nitrogen injection design that prevents unwanted nitrogen ingress due to climatic variations. The system also efficiently extinguishes external fires in bushings and radiators, ensuring complete transformer protection. A built-in fail-safe backup mechanism guarantees nitrogen injection even in case of primary system failure.
Working Principle:
Upon detecting critical fault signals, the system activates within 13 milliseconds, rapidly depressurizing the transformer by draining a predetermined quantity of oil. Simultaneously, high-pressure nitrogen injection creates a stirring action to rapidly reduce the top oil surface temperature below the ignition point.
In the event of an external fire, the system ensures complete extinguishment within 30 seconds. The injected nitrogen occupies the space created by the oil drain, forming an insulating layer that prevents oxygen contact, further mitigating fire risks.
For added security, the TCIV blocks conservator oil flow, preventing further escalation. In case of power failure, the system remains fully operational through manual activation from the control cubicle.
